Northeaster Workforce Development Youth Program

To qualify for the Youth Program, an individual must be 16-21 years of age, a low income individual, a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen, must meet selective-service registration requirements (males 18 and older), and must reside in one of the local areas served. Families/Persons receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Food Stamps or other types of public assistance can qualify for the Youth Program. Entry into the program can also occur if the family’s income is below levels posted by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Also, at least one barrier must exist and be documented to be eligible for the program. The eligible barriers are A.High School Dropout B. Deficient in basic literacy skills C. Homeless, Runaway, or foster child D. Pregnant or Parenting E. Offender  F. Requires additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure and hold employment.
