The Northeastern Workforce Development Board

Sound Workforce Solutions

Northeastern Workforce Development Board (NWDB) is our region’s fund provider from the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA). Headquartered centrally in Hertford, we  serve North Carolina’s 10 most northeastern counties, including: Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties.  We are administered by the Albemarle Commission and overseen by both the Northeastern Workforce Investment Consortium and the NWDB Board of Directors.NWDB workforce development booth

The WIA  funding we receive each year is used to provide technical education scholarships for the underemployed, unemployed, and recently laid off individuals.  Our assistance helps to improve our regional employers’ capacity to find and hire well trained employees.

WIA Youth funds assist Northeastern NC’s young people in completing their High School credentials and empowering them to continue to post-secondary education or meaningful employment.

A network of strong community partnerships, private and public, enable us to better serve our region.
